Story

Born in Garland, Texas

APRIL 25, 1996

Andrew Tyler Sauerwein entered the world on April 25, 1996 at 9:03 in the morning joining his parents Steve and Stacy Sauerwein and brother Kevin. Later on, he became big brother to Katelynn.

Early on, Andrew's passion for life shone through in everything that he did. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the Angel League baseball team in Rockwall, TX where he showed off his homerun swing multiple times per at bat. Shortly after, he joined the Special Olympics basketball and swimming teams and was the definition of a fierce competitor. On the basketball court, dribbling past Andrew just wasn't an option. With regards to his love for the pool, he would go to sleep at 7:00pm the night before a swim meet, already laser focused on the next morning.

Andrew loved music. His state of being (and often that of those around him) was amplified whether he was listening to, dancing to, or making music. In high school, he continued his musical career as a drummer in the Rockwall High School marching band. There he would go on to motivate and bring joy to his classmates and gain local celebrity status along the way as he capped off his high school years as Homecoming King.

After high school, he and the family moved to Dripping Springs, TX, where he continued his reign of fierce competition in the Dripping Springs Special Olympics team. He honed his people skills and leveraged his warm personality to be an excellent food serviceman at Torchy's Tacos and later, McDonald's. He would be dressed and waiting by the door hours before his shift started, eager to go to work and interact with his customers.

Andrew didn't just love being the center of attention, he thrived on it. He left every dancefloor with a smile bigger than you could imagine and had the rare ability to get everyone he knew up and dancing with him. He was the class clown, a prolific prankster and funny as could be. He will be remembered by his infectious smile and contagious laughter that could bring an entire room to tears. He never had a bad day and lived every day to the fullest. His enthusiasm for life continues to inspire his loved ones.

In July of 2021, Andrew was diagnosed with and ultimately succumbed to sepsis and ARDS after complications from an appendectomy. Andrew is survived by his mother and father, Stacy and Steve Sauerwein, his brother, sister, sister-in-law, Kevin, Katelynn and Shawn Sauerwein, and countless friends and lucky ladies on the dance floor. Andrew would want all of us to eat a plate of spaghetti, watch Shrek, and do the Chicken Dance in his honor. Happy Happy Happy. "PROST" Andrew, you will be missed.
